EVEN(T) 4 US

From December 1st to 4th 2023, the "E4U" project meeting, funded by the European Commission, translated theory into action, embracing an innovative format: a sports event during an exhilarating boxing exhibition in a Roman gym. The primary objective was to demonstrate, through practical engagement, that the world of sports offers opportunities beyond being an athlete.

Participants from the ASD Sparta Pugilato (Italy) and A.T.I.C. (Romania) associations were grouped, on the first day of the meeting, into collaborative teams, each consisting of one Italian and one Romanian participant, highlighting diversity and transnational collaboration.

Assigned roles were as follows:

  • Coach: Encouraged athletes and handled equipment such as helmets and mouthguards.

  • Logistics: Organized seating arrangements, set up event banners, and guided the audience to their seats.

  • Welcoming: Greeted athletes and spectators, distributed tickets, and provided assistance.

  • Journalist: Wrote articles about the day and conducted interviews with athletes after matches.

  • Communication: Crafted social media stories, captured behind-the-scenes moments to engage the audience.

  • Ring Announcer: Announced the beginning and end of matches, presented certificates, spoke on the winner's behalf, and called corners.

The following day, we turned theory into practice with a full-fledged sports event. Beyond grasping the theoretical aspects discussed in the initial meeting, participants experienced firsthand how various roles revolve around sports, offering opportunities even for those who aren't athletes.

The event underscored the project's significance, illustrating how one can stay involved in the world of sports without necessarily being an athlete. Roles such as logistics, welcoming, journalism, and communication demonstrated that there are numerous paths to contribute and engage with sports beyond physical competition.

The "E4U" project meeting in Rome was a success in transforming theories into practical actions. It illuminated diverse professional opportunities within the sports realm, reinforcing the concept that sports provide fertile ground for multiple talents. The project continues to inspire and demonstrate that there's a place for everyone in the world of sports, contributing to the creation of an inclusive and diversified sports community.
